Every release page lists the SHA-256 of its disk image. Verify with shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/LectureStudio-0.1.7.dmg.

Install

  1. Open the disk image and drag Lecture Studio to Applications.
  2. The build is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a Gatekeeper warning.
  3. Pick the folder that holds your courses and talks, or an empty one. Git is optional.
  4. Open Settings and paste your Oberik project key. It is stored in the macOS Keychain.
  5. Fill in the presenter profile: name, contact lines for the closing slide, language, how you teach. New decks read it.

About the Oberik project key

The assistant that reads your sources and writes the deck runs on Oberik. Lecture Studio connects to an Oberik project you own: the app mints short-lived tokens from the project key and never sends the key itself to the assistant page.

Lecture Studio is free during the beta. Oberik has its own sign-up and plans; the key comes from a project you create there.

  1. Sign up at oberik.com/signup and create a project (one project is one workspace).
  2. In the project, add a model provider key so the project can answer: Oberik asks for a chat model and an embedding model.
  3. Open API keys in the project and create a key.
  4. Paste the key into Lecture Studio's Settings. It stays in the macOS Keychain; the app only ever sends short-lived tokens to the assistant page.

What the first session looks like

Create a course (a folder of numbered units with a syllabus draft) or a talk (one deck with a title, agenda, takeaways and a closing slide from your profile). Drop the readings into its sources folder. Open the first unit and use a starter: outline from the sources, write the deck from the outline, speaker notes, practice questions, instructor guide. The preview flags overflowing slides and missing images as you go.
